Your Guide To Digital Picture-Taking Secrets

WHEN YOU SHOOT A CELEB'

Learn to expect
the un-expected at a Celebrity Photo shoot.

This is actress Shirley Brenner who I met on an assignment
in Israel in 1998, where she was co-hosting a TV special on channel 3 Israel cable TV.

She Asked Me If I would shoot some publicity pictures of her, for a Celebrity bash.

This Was Unexpected and therefore with the minimum of photo equipment and without a Pro Photo studio
I tried to make the best of it.

The "key" Light was a small "Soft Box" fitted to my Metz Flash gun with some white cards as reflectors, that's all.

I believed it worked. I would also like to think that her further success in the USA was due to my work at the Celebrity Photo shoot however, I believe it was her great talent and not my efforts that took her there!

Camera: BRONICA SQAM, with PS 150mm Lens. Flash gun:
Metz 60 CT-2, Film stock: 120 Kodak GPH 100 ASA colour neg'.

actress: Shirley Brenner

ABOVE: I asked Shirley to get on the 'bean bag' and to act out a pose. She hung up-side down. I used the image the other way up for effect. I think it works well at our for the Photo shoot.

LEFT: The Film Stock was Kodak T.Max 100 ASA. and was processed in T.Max developer. The high quality, almost grain-less negatives allowed me to make prints up to 20"x16"inch size from the center of the 120 negatives, without any noticeable grain. Incredible quality by Kodak. Note, this scanned image doesn't do it justice.

INCIDENTALLY: The Celebrity Photo Shoot on the left, was exposure #1, exactly as we both wanted to achieve. In other words the shoot was 'in the bag', and the rest was a bonus.
By the way, the TV special that Shirley co-hosted proved to be so successful that they shot it as a series and ran it for about a year. Meanwhile, I understand that she's making it 'big time' in the US, I hoped that my Celebrity Photo Shoot helped!
