Vacation in Hollywood
Just a while ago, I was walking on the "Walk of Fame" on Christmas day in Hollywood and I thought to myself, "well you dont get to do this everyday".
Yes I had finally tracked down Model Pushkin, who together with her boyfriend and my family party, we spent the day doing what all Models like to do best, shopping. Of course in our case it was seeing the sites and jostling with the Japanese tourists for the best position to take a few pics.
We must have visited most of the boutiques and shops in Hollywood, not to mention Ripley's, "Believe It or Not"! Also meeting up with "Spider Man" and "Wonder Woman" in Hollywood Boulevard. I mean I ask you, whare do you go from there... Well, Something to eat was most welcome, if not a little overpriced and then home to chill out.

The day before on Christmas Eve, we had visited Venice Beach to watch the young and old plus Gran, rollerblading as the locals like to do and for a few dollars this local resident, (photo below right), not only posed for a picture, but provided amplified music on wheels for us and all to hear. This was a time for me to call home to the UK to wish my family a Happy Holiday.
Then I started to think maybe the best was yet to come. Well I was totally blown away by the surprise Pushkin had laid on for us all, as not only were we all going to Vegas to stay at the 'MGM Grand' for three days, but Pushkin had booked tickets to see Celine Dion, live at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
What a show and if you just happen to love Celine as well as I do, this was the show of a lifetime. A Great Show with great dancers, together with an incredible stage production, all made for a night never to be forgotten.
It had been an ambition of mine to be able to see Celine live in Vegas, and here it had all come true and it was all over far too quickly... What a night, and Celine there just aren't words to describe your stage singing performance, thank you so much. (not to mention a big "THANKS" to Pushkin for making it all possible).
While in Vagues, we played the tables a little and the slot machines and for a time I was actually winning, unfortunately a rather short winning streak. Pushkin and her boyfriend Danny advised me how to lay the bets at the tables and on the first try I made a 50 bucks, but very soon to loose it all and more.
When it comes to betting, I'm a rather cautious guy and as I sat at one of the slot machines I fed it a 100 dollar bill. The next thing I knew I was loosing so heavily, I was down below 30 bucks, when suddenly I hit the triple jackpot. Unfortunately I had only bet a small amount as up until then I was loosing by every spin of the wheel.

However, with one pull of the Handel, I had almost regained my total investment, when the family showed up just in time and I checked out collecting 98 bucks. If I had bet the full amount and the triple jackpot and came up, I would have more than doubled my investment.
Ah well, I did get a free drink, a double scotch, which would have cost a hell of a lot more than 2 bucks at the bar, in fact I probably wouldn't have had much change from my 100 bucks at the bar.
There were other great days out to follow one of them being a trip to Sea World and if you just happen to like Dolphins you wont be disappointed, a great day out.
A few days later we were off to visit Universal Studios, Hollywood, and it was inevitable we would spend more time shopping as well as checking out the famous sites.
Another highlight of our holiday was a visit to Beverly Hills to mix with the rich and famous, well actually mostly Japanese tourists.
On Rodeo Drive, The Vale Beverly Hills, we parked our pick up truck, valet parking, soft lighting, marble columns and relaxing music. Hey, and were only in the parking lot...
Then to explore the shopping on Rodeo Drive, where everything is at least three or four times the cost than any other shop or moll. As we walked we also checked out some of the latest and most expensive cars available parked at the side of the road.
When we stopped for a health drink, it not only contains yogurt and fresh fruit, they also ask you if you would like a vitamin 'shot' in the drink as well. It all helps to keep you on your toes.

But I think that one of the highlights of my Vacation was to visit Disneyland, which I hadn't expected to be so fascinating as it is. Designed for children of all ages, (which includes me), it caters for an enjoyable experience just about everyone and I was spellbound as well.
The delight on Micky Mouses house is something to see and the wonder on the children's faces made it special for anybody who was present. The castle, the lights and your favourite Disney characters are all around you.
The shops contained mostly reasonably price souvenirs for the tourist and we had a great time trying on funny hats and the like and I bought Pushkin "Mini and Micky Mouse" Dolls and one shop assistant presented my wife and I, a badge to ware for a first time visit, free. Also we had some great food at the eating places at Disneyland, which was was nice when you kinda hungry.
Thinking back on my vacation it all seems so far away now, a sure sign that I had a heck of a good time and far more so than I had expected.
I would add, anyone thinking of visiting the places we visited on our vacation, you wont be disappointed, I came away with happy memories, not to mention some great photos, far to much to show you all here on this page, in fact I might have overdone using the space, but I hope you found some interest in reading my comments and maybe even some of the pictures.
