Get Your Guide To Better Digital Picture-Taking
You have finally arrived with your digital slr camera at your beach location for a 'teen bikini' shoot approximately "Temperamental Model Time", or loosely 4.30pm with your teen model and then spent the next half hour in the restaurant...
Then the final realisation that your about to photo-shoot a model, perhaps for the very first time... Try to stop panicking!
If you have learned how to use your new Digital Camera and you have prepared the whole event in advance, what seems to be the problem?
By preparing in advance I mean working out a basic plan on how you are going to conduct the whole photo-shoot, by researching posing ideas, preparing your digital SLR photography equipment and going over in your mind, time and time again, how you want to approach the whole event.
Well, lets say that you choose a location background, such as down by the river or on a beach, one of the first things you have to consider is the time of day you propose to shoot your digital photo images.
Did you know that the best time of day for a beach Model shoot for example, is 2 or 3 hours before sunset, when the shadows are long and the light is warm and soft. At all costs avoid the miday sun, which cast ugly harsh shadows and will ruin your Images.
You should have visited the proposed location the day before, at the same time you want to conduct your photography session, to carefully check out the light conditions and surrounding backgrounds.
You will need to use flash-fill at a ratio of 2-1. This simply means that if you camera exposure is telling you that the shutter exposure is say 125/second at a camera aperture setting of f. stop 8, adjust your 'separate' flash gun's "Auto" setting to f.5.6. This instructs the flash to reduce the power output, so as to not burn out the subject. If you use the same aperture setting as your camera, your images will be over exposed and will look washed out.
Using your built in flash for a pro shoot, will not be powerful enough for the job and any camera's built in flash should be considered only as an emergency for indoor party snaps of the kids etc.
If your moving up to a pro photo-shoot, think pro and use the correct digital slr camera and equipment.
Now you have everything ready, time for your Model Photo-Shoot! I hope you made some tests beforehand and well before a real Model Photo-Shoot, to make sure that you have the results you think look good.
