Maayan says, "I was just lying here on our Bikini Beach and not to far away is PhotoRog complete with his Digital SLR Camera gear, his assistant and Mom is sitting under an umbrella trying to keep the sun off her while directing operations, which PhotoRog seems not to notice to much. When I thought to myself, I wonder what new beach photos and new info tips and advice our visitors would like to see in our new pages at PhotoRog.com".
Well to be honest we've bent over backwards to please you all, but as one American President once said, "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time"... or something like that. But I don't think he was referring to a Teen Model photo-shoot!
When you set up a series of photo-shoots, not all will go according to plan. Therefore have a plan "B" to fall back on and make sure you write down all the shots you want to achieve.
Camera Tips: You will need a Digital SLR Camera or Film Camera, if possible with two zoom lenses. Remember your trying to produce a professional style photo-shoot and point and shoot cameras are just not sutible.
The plan was to shoot about a week apart, allowing myself and my helpers to produce the Beach Model pages and have them ready earlier this year as I will be away most of the Summer.
But not all the ideas for our Teen Model teen shoot worked out as planned. First Maayan was very busy at school and other occupations like her dancing lessons and gymnastic training, not to mention youth club and the list goes on.
External Fill-Flash: You will need an outside flash gun such as one of the camera makers own "Speed Light' flash units, or a Metz 'hammer head' flash gun, attached to the camera. Don't use the cameras built in flash as it's just not powerful enough for a professional photographer's photo-shoot.
So I put my foot down and pointed out we must start early and work without interruptions, so with that in mind out first trip to the beach was planned for the last day of May, usually a safe bet if your working on a beach in Israel.
Wrong again, it was overcast and cloudy and unlike the photographs on this page taken at a later date, the sun hardly peeped through and the skies over the our Teen Beach location were gray and dull. Our little Teen Model did her best not to mention all present, but that was only one of the problems.
Best time of the day for your Photo-Shoot: Did you know that the best time of the day in the Summer for a location Photo-Shoot, is 2-3 hours before Sunset, or 2-3 hours after Sunrise. This is because the the Sun is low in the sky and the shadows are long and more importantly the light is soft and warm. All professional photographers shoot their location photography around this time of the day.
Our Teen Models Mom and I had been busy trying to find the right garments and because of her busy school schedule, in most cases without Model Maayan being able to attend most of the trips to buy the outfits. End result, we ended up with many badly fitting beachwear outfits, of which most had to be replaced, 'more haste less speed'!
You will notice here that we try not to let out Teen Model photo-shoots clash with her her school studies and activities, an important point if you plan to photograph a young part time model.
On top of that, I was extra busy than usual with other projects which of course had shown up early. Did I forget to mention that our Model Maayan had been ill as well and on one occasion we just had to finished up early on our Beach location. You know a sneezing Model with a head cold doesn't make for the best of bikini beach shots.
Minor Model Release Form: You will need a minor model release, which has to be signed in duplicate on completion of the photo-shoot, by the parent or legal guardian of the model if she is under the age of eighteen. This is a standard form in the modeling industry, giving the photographer and his client the right to use the photographs.
Now having said all that, we do hope you will like the new pictures. PS. Models Mom also hopes you will like the pictures from our bikini beach too, after all she had to go through all the hassle as well, thanks Mom for your patience, and I think we would all agree, "You've got a lovely daughter".
